Ramadan Mubarak Everyone!

28 June 2014

This is just a quick post on wishing you all Ramadan Mubarak in this blessed and holy month. To all my muslim followers and also non-muslim followers :)

Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic calender. The first day of ramadan starts based on the sighting of the moon, from which muslims all around the world fast for 29 or 30 days again based on the sighting of the moon. Fasting is also one of the five pillars of Islam. All though our calendar is based on the moon it is slightly different to the lunar calendar which is based on astrology.

We do not consume food or water from dawn (sehri) until sunrise (Iftar). It is the time we give our self training and reminder of how to be Muslims as we may forget things from time to time and the increase of good deeds while trying to avoid doing sins. We reflect upon life and a month we get forgiven. This is the month the first verses of the Quran was revealed to the Prophet peace be upon him. At Iftar (time we break our fast) we start by eating dates (if you like it) and water and then eat many things as a family that we have prepared. The best time hehe

In this special month, We feel closer to our lord and we try and be better muslims, the reading of the Holy Quran and praying is increased. The gates of paradise is open and the doors of hell is locked. The night of power (Laylat-ul-Qadr) falls on one of the last ten days in which whoever prays on this night their sins will be forgiven, InShaAllah, this night the Quran was revealed.

We celebrate the end of ramadan with the festival of Eid where we exchange gifts, pray, visit one another, wear new clothes, and eat! But obviously eating moderately!

Many people ask is it not difficult but It's actually not that hard, you only feel hungry from time to time but its faith that's important! Hope you all have a good Ramadan!
P.s I may be doing weekly posts on what I did that week such as what I ate etc :)
