My mac lipstick collection

10 January 2014

So here it is finally I've had the chance and i'm quite happy with my lipsticks now I thought I would show you the colours I have and swatches, although I do like and use some more then others. Each lipstick cost £15 can be purchased online or from a mac store. www.mac.co.uk

MAC do various formulas and finishes, I have a mixture of amplified, satin, matte and cremesheen. to be honest I don't like the cremesheen's as they're colour pay off isn't good, therefore I hardly wear my cream in you coffee lipstick. my favourite finishes have to be amplified having said that they are tooo pigmented! I love the feel if you know what I mean, it's very soft and creamy. I think I only have one amplified from the collection and that's my nude lipstick half n half.
I like the matte's and satin finishes, I like to wear my Dior crème de rose lip balm underneath, for that extra softness. satin finishes are in between matte and cremesheen I think. and you all know what a matte finish is!

I have 1 red Mac lipstick which I was the recent one I purchased, I wanted this from a very long time but couldn't agree whether to buy it or not, however I am very happy I did, the colour is beautiful, i'm sure you have heard of Russian red. mac ruby woo another very raved about lipstick which is another beautiful one but it didn't suit my complexion as it has a blue undertone, this one is more of a orange undertone but the lipstick is that classic red lipstick but better!

the nude lipstick's from my collection in my opinion for me are mac faux (a pink nude), mac velvet teddy (a peach nude), mac half n half (a peach nude), these are my most used lipsticks as well as mac pink plaid (a nice pink with slight blue undertone), mac mehr and mac twig (which are very similar in colour just a slight difference, I tend to wear mac mehr more) and lastly I do really like my mac Russian red.

Overall I really like Mac lipsticks, I don't find them drying like some lipsticks.
I'm NC40 or C4 in Mac, 123 in MUFE HD foundation, 220 Maybelline fit me, 303 rimmel match perfection.

Mini Zoeva Haul

09 January 2014

My order has arrived!

I really wanted the Zoeva brushes after hearing great reviews about them, and also because I wanted a concealer brush similar to the real techniques deluxe crease brush as I liked the thickness and the way it applies concealer and blends, however I didn't want to spend 20 pound and get the whole eye brush set as you cannot buy it on its own.

I came across the Zoeva concealer buffer brush 142 which looked very similar so I decided to purchase this price at £7.50 I also heard a lot of people using the silk finish 102 brush for foundation it cost £10.50

Lastly i ordered the nude palette which consists of shimmers and mattes and i really like nude colours. I didnt want to buy mac single eyeshadows which are very expensive one costing around 10 to 12 pounds where as the zoeva nude palette cost £18.95, for 28 colours! I saw lily pebbles youtuber do a blog on this and she really liked it.. as you can see from the picture, there are dark shades and lights, and a few peachy, pinks, purple shades.

Zoeva is based in germany and shipping cost around £7 so to make it worthwile buy more than one thing if you do!

I placed my order 30th December 2013, my order was processed one 3rd January and shipped out on 6th January, it arrived in London on the 8th in the night and I received it in the morning on the 9th. I think that's pretty fast and I was tracking my order the whole time.

The order came in a brown box, inside thick bubble wrap and then neatly black tissue paper with the Zoeva stamp (I already opened it hence the scruffiness :P)

The brushes were inside black cases and the palette inside card packaging.
The brushes itself are very soft and the eye shadows look good so ill have to try them and let you know.

make-up no makeup look

08 January 2014

I've been feeling ill lately and I didn't feel to wear makeup, but you know when you have that ill looking face and you need to feel and look better this is what I did and I thought I would share it... you an do this look even if your not ill, or its that monthly time again or if you wear less makeup anyway..

so get yourself out of bed if you ain't already and do a little dance, just joking, first thing to do is use a gentle cooling cleanser and wash your face.

Skin Care
Dry your face and I look to use my Clarins gentle exfoliating toner, it exfoliates and closes your pores.

You may be lacking hydration so I like to use the moisture booster to pack on hydration.

Next use a good moisturiser on your face, when that isn't too thick yet it is nourishing to the skin,

Preferably with a SPF in it. I use the origins Ginzing moisturiser. as well as that use a good eye cream under the eyes..

Lips may be cracked so use a good lip balm, I love the Dior crème de rose one as it smells and feels nice, its soft and light weight.

So we've done the skincare on to the makeup, already prepped the skin,

Makeup
So grab a bb cream, as it will provide a nice tint to the skin without the coverage of a foundation. it should blend the skin nicely. (I have recently brought the body shop all in one bb cream and so far liking it)

Dark circles need to be covered and nothing better than the Bobbi Brown corrector to do this in my opinion. gently apply with your ring finger as this will be the least pressure. review

There may be still marks and blemishes the bb cream has failed to cover, just use your favourite concealer and blend it out. i'm trying out the Revlon concealer as I cant find shade 4 of the collection perfection concealer.

This is no makeup so no eyeliner, just curl your eyelashes and apply your favourite mascara to add volume to your lashes. (Maybelline falsies is my favourite everyday mascara)

You want to add just a bit of colour to your cheeks so use a nice pink shade, I like my mac desert rose as a subtle colour.

And lastly you want to apply a nice nude lip, one that I really like is the Revlon mauve it over matte lipstick, its a nice peachy tone.

cleaning your brushes

04 January 2014

It is as important to take care of your skin as it is your brushes and ensuring there is no bacteria build up, this is a step by step guidance on how to clean your brushes.. or a monthly pamper..

it is very important for you to cleanse your brushes on a weekly basis.. and give it a good monthly pamper rinse ;)

1) the first step is to get some of your cleanser or shampoo, I often use a normal shampoo. put some in the bathroom sink on the side, and dab the brush head in it and then swirl the brush in the palm of your hand. For this instance i used the tony and guy hair shampoo for normal hair

this will ensure the brush is getting cleansed

2) next step is to turn on the warm tap as you don't want it too hot or cold. turn the brush downside so your holding the stick, and try and not to get any water inside as this can losen the glue.
it may help to swirl the brush on the sink next to the water. Use luke warm water..

3) repeat step 1 but with conditioner this time, this will make your brush nice and soft again :) and also again wash it under the tap, step 2 basically.. I used the tony and guy conditioner for normal hair.

4) now the drying part, I tend to shake the brushes so it rinses off the water, then place a carrier bag on top of my draw, and put a box  so there is different level of surface, and place the brush handles on the box so the brush is facing down.

I do the brush cleansing in the night so I can use my brushes next morning :) I recommend this either weekly or monthly as a good cleansing routine...

the quick way to clean your brush is to get a cotton pad, and some eye cleanser, and rub the brush on the cotton pad in swirl motions... This will be ideal for daily or weekly depending on how dirty your brushes are...

Best of 2013!

01 January 2014

I cant believe a whole year has come and gone woah! Time really does fly, so a very Happy new year to you all :) its 2014 whoop whoop haha

So there's a lot of things I have enjoyed throughout the year, products in particular, and disappointments in buying..

Starting with skincare:
One product that has truly stuck out for me and really worked is non other then my liz earle hot cloth cleanser and not hyping but this stuff actually works and does its job!
I have gone through tonnes of lip balms hoping to find the right one sadly that was one of my un-favourites, however must say towards the end of the year I found the little pot at the end of the rainbow:) can u guess, yes my Dior creme de rose lip balm...

This year I have tried a lot to look after my skin after mac foundations left my skin a bad state with breakouts, one of the things I enjoyed is using a night cream and I'm glad I have learnt how important it is..

Lets talk about hair... If you know me you will know the only time I brush my hair is when I straighten it I use a comb to separate and neaten apart from that I never use or have the need, recently I decided to use a brush so can safely say I have been loving using it :)

favourite part - Makeup-
I loved wearing nudes this year and I have invested a lot of money on nude lipsticks! From mac and drugstores. I have blogs on pink-Nudes and peach-Nudes
I have also enjoyed contouring and highlighting the face
I really liked using drugstore foundations as I use to think before that they wern't good or something silly but really that's a fools thinking they are actually pretty good, and plus mac break me out and the others are too expensive to wear on a day to day basis..

The Bobbi Brown corrector has become one of my favourite makeup staples

For bath-
I enjoyed soap and glory products most of all their sugar crush body scrub and body
I loved using my Loccaitaine shower oil, makes u feel so relaxed and smell gorjuss

For clothes I have enjoyed wearing black socks! Everyone who knows me will know I lounge around in pj's unless I have to be out so defo enjoyed those!
I enjoyed wearing skirts this year from black to burgandy to white to turquoise

Food-
forget food, one drink that I truly cannot have enough of is oasis summer fruits :) this is tooo refreshing mmmm just thinking about it makes me mouth water..

Things that I disliked this year
Nars eye shadow- I brought one and it is the most rubbishest (if that's even a word) thing i've spent so much money on!
Different mascaras that don't work! Hate trying loads of different mascaras when should just stick to a few that actually do the job instead of thinking this will work and actually wasting your money..

Mac foundations- I have hated trying every single one that I tried, my skin just does not agree, so it might work for you don't take my negativity that's just my thing, I love the finish the shade match its just it broke me out and I tried a couple of different ones suited for my dry skin, mac match master, mac mineralise, mac studio sculpt...

So hope you enjoyed reading about the things I enjoyed using or doing, have a good 2014..
